Research Interests

Pro. Gao has been engaged in research in linguistics, applied linguistics and translation studies and published more than 40 papers covering reading, writing, linguistics, lexicology, pragmatics and translation studies in Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Journal of Foreign Languages and other celebrated journals. Recently he has been wedded to a social and cultural approach to translation studies including translation history and terminology translation.


Courses offered: translation theories and practice, translation history, translation research methodology.

Biographical Information

Prof. Gao got his BA in English language and literature from Suzhou University, and Ph.D. in translation studies from Nanjing University in 2006. Since 2014, he has been working in Southeast University as professor and director of SEU Center for Translation Studies. He visited Fudan University, Oregon State University (OSU), Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS), Texas Tech University (TTU) as visiting scholar, in 2001, 2007, 2009 and 2016 respectively.
