讲座内容介绍：
This lecture will discuss how those on the margins of society are represented such as Caliban and Shylock in Shakespeare, Friday in Robinson Crusoe and the issue of slavery in Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park within the contemporary socio-historical context of colonisation and empire. By humanising these characters and making them complex, what issues are being raised by the texts?
