From August 5 to August 10th of 2013, the volunteer team, consisting of 7 graduate students of the School of Foreign Languages of Southeast University and School of International Students, travelled to Chuxiong Prefecture, a southern county, to carry out an English summer camp activity on the theme of 'Playing English, Flying dreams'.
On August 6th, shortly after the opening ceremony, 7 graduate students leading 60 students carried out the ice breaking activity, which rapidly stimulated children's interest in learning through a series of vivid and interesting games. On the 5-day English summer camp, graduate students arranged for local students such rich and classified teaching contents as listening skills, spoken English, reading, writing, interesting training, core vocabulary and grammar. Rich contents and diversified forms of teaching not only won the love of students, but also were well received among local English teachers who came to audit.
On the afternoon of August 10th, the wonderful camped ceremony was held in a ladder classroom in Nanhua First School. Local students in groups, flexibly and fully displayed the English knowledge and skills they had learned in the five days creatively. The wonderful display received bursts of praise and applause from guests and teachers. With five days' getting together, Southeast University graduate students formed a 'hand-in-hand' help group with local students, and promised to keep in touch with those children in the future as their 'navigator' on the road of growth.
After the camped ceremony, all campers came to the canteen, a small buffet was held by making sandwiches with ingredients prepared by graduate students. Graduate students and children hugged to say goodbye. This English summer camp perfectly ended in a burst of laughter though all were unwilling to part with each other.
