COOPERATION

School of Foreign Languages have invited many scholars abroad to give lectures or teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

★On October 22nd, 2014, Dr. Terrence Wiley, head of Center for Applied Linguistics, gave a lecture entitled The Past, Present and Future of Language Policy Research.

★On January 23rd, 2015, Professor Robert Cavanagh from Curtin University gave a lecture entitled Measures with Meaning in the Human Sciences.

★On June 1st, 2015, Professor Jiang Nan from the University of Maryland gave a lecture entitled Uniquely Non-native.

★On May 4th, 2016, Professor Jonathan Lock Hart, member of the Royal Society of Canada and the Royal Historical Society of Britain, oversea research fellow of the University of Cambridge, gave a lecture entitled History, Trauma and Literature.

★On June 8th, 2016, Dr. Peter De Costa from the Michigan State University gave a lecture entitled An Author’s and Reviewer’s Perspective on Publishing in SSCI Journals.

★On June 29th, 2016, Professor Thomas O. Beebee, head of Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literature of the Pennsylvania State University, gave a lecture entitled What the World Thinks about Literature.

★From June 27th to July 8th, 2016, the second SEU-UT English Immersion Summer Camp was successfully held in Southeast University.

★In July, 2016. Ms. Laurie Knox, Ms. Kristi Maxwell and Mr. Thorsten Huth from the University of Tennessee taught three courses to undergraduate English majors

★On October 24th, Dr. Gao Xuesong from the University of Hong Kong gave a lecture entitled Linguistic Instrumentalism and National Language Policy in Mainland China’s State Print Media Coverage of the Protecting Cantonese Movement.

★On November 7th and November 9th, 2016, Dr. David Johnson from the University of Iowa gave two lectures respectively entitled Language Policy for Bilingual Education and the Spread of English and Ethnography of Language Policy: Theory, Method, and Findings.

★On November 14th, 2016, Dr. Miguel Pérez-Milans from University College London gave a lecture entitled Studying Mandarin Chinese in London Education: Language Desire and Learning Illusion in a Working-Class Secondary School.
