On August 23rd, School of Foreign Languages ceremoniously held “Open Day for Parents of 2013 Students”.
Beginning from 2 pm, parents visited the beautiful Jiulong Lake campus, the teaching building and the Foreign Languages Learning Center, and experienced the environment and atmosphere for learning. Afterwards, freshmen and their parents participated in the parents’ meeting held by School of Foreign Languages.
To begin with, Dean Chen Meihua affectionately introduced to freshmen and their parents the history, discipline construction, faculty, students’ activities of School of Foreign Languages, and then illustrated in detail graduates' employment trends, the greatest concern of students. Then, Vice Dean Yuan Xiaoning, Vice Dean and Japanese Department Director Liu Kehua respectively introduced professional learning and overseas exchange programs. Teachers and instructors then respectively gave them explanation about lesson selections and training arrangements.
Activities like group communication and discussion were included, during which parents and teachers could talk face to face. Not only did parents get a deeper understanding of the teaching idea and the teaching method of the School, but also the School acquired valuable suggestions from parents in terms of colleges and universities teaching service management. After the group communication, the parent representative made a speech, expressing thanks to the college and expectation for children's future school life.
School of Foreign Languages has been committed to training knowledgeable foreign language talents, attaching great significance to the connection between school and parents. It was the second time that “Open Day for Parents” activity had been held. A series of activities have proved effective in creating an opportunity for parents to intuitively learn about their children's university life, and thus helped establish connections between the school with family in education.
