The Tenth National Japanese Writing and Speech Contest hosted by Hiroshima University was held from November 11, 2015 to November 14, 2015, at Beijing Capital Normal University and Gao Cen from Japanese Department of SEU won the first prize.

Since 2006, Beijng Office of Hiroshima University has successfully held nine writing contests annually for Chinese students majoring in Japanese and has gained high social attention and broad participation. Centering around the theme “Facing A Peaceful Future: A Message from me”, the contest went through two stages: a preliminary writing contest and a final speech contest, and attracted hundreds of students from more than ten universities, such as Renmin University of China, the Second Foreign Languages University of Beijing, Nanjing University, Northeast Normal University, Dalian Foreign Languages University and so on.

The contest had 8 first prize winners, 8 second prize winners, and 26 third prize winners. Speaking from her personal experience, Gao Cen excelled all the other contestants in the contest with her passionate and sincere emotions. Her success came from her personal efforts as well as the insightful guidance from Miss Zhao Yang and Mr. Matsuda Shinobu, the two teachers from SFL of SEU. It is hoped that Gao Cen would set an example for Japanese major students and encourage them to actively participate in more competitions and events.
