Mission Statement

Committee of Professors of School of Foreign Languages (CPSFL), decides upon school-wide research and teaching issues and makes personnel/promotion recommendations for approval at university level.


The specific research-related responsibilities of CPSFL are to

1. Evaluate and recommend the fund application of academic research projects.

2. Evaluate and recommend the award-winning research essays, books or other publications.

3. Evaluate and accredit the academic achievements or academic awards on the school level

4. Evaluate and determine the research projects sponsored by the School.

5. Set standards for the promotion of professional titles, the application of academic honors, the selection and appointment of high-level talents, the recruitment of honorary or guest professors, and the recommendation of qualified candidates for important provincial or national academic organization, etc. 

6. Set the norms and rules to guide the development of professional morals and ethics, and regulate the working procedures and responses when violation occurs.

7. Adjudicate on the academic disputes, receive, investigate and make formal judgments about the complaints or accusations of academic misconduct.

8. Deliberate on significant schemes about academic research plans, and international academic exchange programs, etc.

9. Deliberate on the plans concerning the development of disciplines and majors, and the team construction of faculty members.

10. Deliberate on the structure of academic organizations.

11. Deliberate on the mid-term inspection and acceptance of school-sponsored research projects.

12. Evaluate or deliberate on the other significant academic activities assigned by the School.


The specific teaching-related responsibilities of CPSFL are to

1. Set standards for the teaching quality assessment.

2. Select and recommend candidates for the teaching contests, determine the winners of awards or honors for Excellent Teachers, evaluate and approve the teaching reform projects and SRTP projects, both on the university level and the provincial level,

3. Evaluate and determine the teaching awards or honors within the School.

4. Assess the teaching quality of faculty members.

5. Set criteria for the seriousness of accidents in teaching activities.

6. Set standards and quality control for the course construction.

7. Deliberate on the talents cultivation plan and other important teaching reform policies or measures.

8. Deliberate on the adjustment or establishment of majors, the training program of talented students, and the construction plan for the courses.

9. Deliberate on the infrastructure scheme for teaching equipments, labs, and training (internship) bases.

10. Review the annual report of teaching and administrative activities and approve the new plans and designs.

11. Review the reports or designs from the departments in terms of their teaching activities.

12. Evaluate or deliberate on the other teaching activities assigned by the School.

CPSFL also evaluates or deliberates on other important academic or teaching issues when entrusted by Southeast University or School of Foreign Languages.
