On June 22, 2016, 11 committee members from the Committee of Professors of the School of Foreign Languages (CPSFL) gathered in the Conference Room of Jiulonghu campus to discuss the key issues of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Southeast University. The meeting was chaired by CPSFL director, Prof. Li Xiaoxiang.
The major agenda of the meeting was to deliberate rules and regulations concerning teaching and research issues. After constructive talks and detailed reading into each line of the revised drafts, the CPSFL members voted for the approval of three documents, namely, “Guidelines for the Research Awards of SFL”, “Process Control of SFL Postgraduate Student Graduation Thesis Writing”, and “Guidelines for the Funding Support of Postgraduate Student Attendance of Academic Conferences”. Besides the three documents, CPSFL members also decided on the candidates for the Teaching Awards of Southeast University, went over the draft of “Performance Appraisal of SFL” and some other important issues concerning the close interests of faculty and staff members.
During the three-hour meeting, Dr. Ma Qiang, the party secretary of SFL, Prof. Li Xiaoxiang, the director of CPSFL, and Prof. Zhao Jianhong, the deputy director, as well as the other CPSFL members, actively pushed the discussion to a binding conclusion with their valuable suggestions. As an important event characteristic of democratic consultation, the first meeting of CPSFL members was sure to contribute to the development of SFL.
