The 12th Jiangsu Academic Forum of Postgraduates was held in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, December 9-10, 2017. Prof. Li Xiaoxiang of Southeast University (SEU), head of Foreign Languages Teaching and Research Association for Higher Education of Jiangsu Province, passionately delivered an opening speech, and Associate Professor Hu Yonghui, general secretary of the Association, was invited to comment on the plenary speech for literature students. Prof. Wu Lanxiang was the coordinator for SEU postgraduates.

In his opening speech, Professor Li Xiaoxiang pointed out that for graduate students, research is the key. He suggested that, against the background of globalization, students should combine academic research with their real life experiences. He also called for the development of more platforms like this academic forum to facilitate the communication between postgraduates so that they can learn from each other.

Among the thirteen M.A. students from Southeast University who attended the forum, Lu Sunnan and Lan Bo presented their research on the plenary session for literature and linguistics studies. The other 11 students delivered speeches on the three concurrent sessions of literature, translation and linguistics. After the deliberations by the experts and the selection by the Forum Organizing Committee, Lu Sunnan won the first prize, Xi Yang and Lan Bo won the prize for excellence.

With a large number of participants, a wide range of research topics and high-quality research papers, this forum succeeded in boosting the exchange of academic achievements between postgraduate students across different disciplines, and creating a good chance for them to approach the critical academic issues.
