On February 23, 2018, the first day of the new semester, faculty from the Department of English for Specific Purposes (Division I) met at Room 405, Li Wenzheng Library on Jiulonghu Campus for a discussion on instruction and research.
The discussion was mainly devoted to the following topics: 1. courses and instructors, 2. teaching arrangements and the 2+2 teaching model, and 3. Itest and MOOC platforms.
A series of academic English courses (including English for Academic Communication, Academic English Reading and Academic English Writing), International English communication courses (including IELTS and TOEFL) and Translation would be open to non-English majors on Liulonghu Campus, and Medical English to medical students on Dingjiaqiao Campus as planned.
Instructors of each course shared their schemes of the 2+2 mode: two-hour in-class teaching and two-hour autonomous learning. The autonomous learning was designed to complete a list of learning tasks either on Itest platform or on MOOC network platform of the Chinese University.
Finally, an agreement was reached on the requirements of the filing documents before further discussion on drafting the syllabi and teaching plans.
