Hu Tingshan graduated from Fengyang Normal School in Anhui Province in 1983 and became a primary school teacher in the remote rural area in Anhui province. In 1985, he took a two-year in-service training program in Chuzhou Junior College, majoring in English. He took his undergraduate program in Anhui Institute of Education in 1994. In 1998, he was admitted into the Master program at the Department of Foreign Languages of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Under the supervision of Pro. Fang Yiqing, he engaged in the studies of Teaching English as a Foreign Language and received MA. degree in 2001. Ever since he graduated from USTC in 2001, he has been working in the School of Foreign Languages of South University as an English teacher. In 2001, he published a paper in the Journal of Sichuan College of International Studies, and in 2007 he published a paper in the Journal of Foreign Languages Research. From 2005 to 2008, he has compiled a series of books published by Southeast University Publishing House. Besides, he has participated in the several research projects. In those years, he has developed great interest in cross-cultural studies, applied linguistics and psycholinguistics.
