At 7:30 pm on August 7, 2020, Dr. Wayne E. Wright, Associate Dean for Research, Graduate Programs, and Faculty Development in College of Education, Purdue University, was invited by the School of Foreign Languages of Southeast University and the Asia-Pacific Language Policy Research Center to hold an online lecture on the theme of “Multilingual Education as a Tool for Attaining Education for All”.
Dr. Wayne E. Wright is the Associate Dean for Research, Graduate Programs, and Faculty Development; Professor; and the Barbara I. Cook Chair of Literacy and Language in the College of Education at Purdue University. He’s also the co-editor of Journal of Language, Identity, and Education;His research focuses on Language, Education, Assessment policies and programs for language minority students.
In the lecture, Professor Wright introduced the current situation for multilingual education around the world, and then discussed one of his studies on Cambodian children to illustrate how international organizations like UNESCO, UNICEF are helping countries around the world to turn to multilingual education to ensure that children in developing countries have access to education. The lecture lasted for an hour and a half. Professor Wayne Wright’s humorous expression made the lecture fascinating. Participants actively exchanged ideas with Professor Wright in the Q&A session and they all benefited a lot.
