The 2022 Spring Semester School of Foreign Languages (SFL) Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA) Workshop was successfully held in the SFL Lecture Hall on the Jiulonghu Campus on May 11. This event was hosted by the Department of English Teaching for Graduate Students, SFL. The workshop was presided over by Prof. Xing Guoyuan, and attended by nearly 80 graduate TAs, including more than 30 online TA attendees.
The workshop started with Prof. Xing’s introduction to the TA work, followed by an awarding ceremony for the winners of Excellent Teaching Plans in 2021 and 2022 spring semesters, a presentation session on Excellent Teaching Plans, as well as a discussion panel on different aspects of the TA work .
In the presentation session, three winners of Excellent Teaching Plans－Li Yanling, Shi Rui and Yuan Bingjuan－shared their TA experience with a focus on their teaching plans. The following discussion panel centered on how to organize a successful TA class, how to deal with students’ learning feedback and how to improve the effectiveness of classroom activities.
This biannual workshop is not only a refresher training on the requirements, the goals and work ethics of TA but also a valuable platform for SFL teachers and TAs to communicate with and learn from each other. According to the TA attendees, the workshop provided a good opportunity for them to have a better knowledge of the TA work and a clearer idea of how to organize their own work.
