The 2014 English Speaking Contest Final of Southeast University was held successfully on June 5th at the lecture hall of the School of Foreign Languages. Surviving the preliminaries and semi-finals, 14 competitors from all departments managed to enter the final contest. During the final, each contestant was given three minutes for the prepared speech with Media, we-the-media as the topic, then two minutes for the impromptu speech round, and the last question and answer part from the panel of judges.

At that moment, the lecture hall was not only a stage for performance, but also a stage for mutual exchange and communication. Tense and orderly as the contest went, the contestants not only fully displayed their speculative wisdom and presentation skills, but also demonstrated the positive spirits of contemporary college students. Wonderful speeches won applauses from teachers and students from time to time, and the atmosphere was really active. Simultaneously, the judges are busy grading in strict accordance with the principle of fairness and justice. In the end, Professor Zhu Hongqing, representative of the judges and Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, made a wonderful conclusion of the contest. He not only pointed out the advantages and deficiencies specifically and accurately, but also took this opportunity to guide and teach the skills of speech, which made the students benefit a lot.

Finally, Gao Yawen from the Japanese Department and Ma Yiyuan from the School of Transportation won the first prize, three other contestants won the second prize, and the remaining nine won the third prize. Mr. Robert Davy, special guest of the School of Foreign Languages, awarded the prize to the contestants. Thus, the sixth English Speaking Contest Final of Southeast University successfully closed.
