Open Day for Parents of Freshman of 2014 was successfully held

On August 30th, numerous overachieving freshmen, with deepest longings for SEU came from all corners of China to Nanjing.

From 3:00 p.m, the parents of freshmen, accompanied by course instructors, visited Jiulonghu Campus, school buildings and foreign language learning center. It gave the parents a chance to enjoy firsthand the academic atmosphere. They also extended their gratitude to our faculty for the attentive service and thoughtful considerations. After that, an orientation for parents was held in the Lecture Hall.

Those who attended the meeting were Chen Meihua, Dean of College of Foreign Language, Ma Qiang, School Party Secretary, Liu Siming, Executive Vice-president, Liu Kehua, Assistant Dean and Director of Japanese Department, Tang Dinghua, Deputy Party Secretary and assistant dean, and teachers from both English Department and Japanese Department, course instructors as well as freshmen of 2014 and their parents.

Chen Meihua, dean of College of Foreign Language, first presented the history and tradition, discipline construction, faculty resources, and student activity, etc, to the freshmen and parents. In the meantime, she expressed her expectation to freshmen of 2014 and gave a detailed explanation about occupational direction upon graduation. Teacher Liu Kehua and Zhu Litian introduced the overseas exchange programs and professional studies in both Japanese and English department respectively. Course instructor, We Siyi also gave all the attendants an explanation about curricula-variable system, military training and all sorts of arrangements after enrollment.

Group communication and discussion was organized for the teachers and parents. In this way, the parents could have a better and deeper understanding of the teaching philosophy and methodology of our colleges. In turn, all faculties would receive valuable advice on academic services and management. The parents expressed that, thanks to this meeting, they were more assured of their children studying and living in SEU. After the discussion, parent representative took the floor, extending their gratitude to our college and high expectation on their children living and studying in SEU.

In the end, Ma Qiang, Secretary of Party Committee,delivered a closing speech. In his closing remarks, he put forward specific requirements for freshmen of 2014, and extended his hope that all the parents could be at ease of their children living in SEU and continue to care for and support the development of College of Foreign Languages.

College of Foreign Languages has been committed to cultivate the talents who were well versed in both Chinese and Western language learning, and lays great emphasis on the connection and contact between parents and school. It was the third time that Open Day for parents of freshmen was held, which creates a chance for parents to intuitively understand the campus life and provides a favorable platform for the combination of Education at school and home.
