September 24th has witnessed a ceremony, at which School of Foreign Languages, Southeast University, signed an agreement with Changjianglu Primary School about setting up an education practice base. The ceremony was held in Changjianglu Primary School. On behalf of each school, Chen Meihua, Dean of School of Foreign Languages of SEU, and Song Hongbin, Principal of Changjianglu Primary School signed the agreement. Tang Dinghua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Guo Fengping, Assistant to Dean and Director of the Extracurricular Practice Center, Li Jin, Director of the Administrative Office, Xu Xuening, Secretary of Youth League Committee, and colleagues from Changjianglu Primary School, including General Secretary Zhang Jian, Secretary Yan Li of the Council Office and Teacher Zhao Changzhu, were present at the ceremony. The whole ceremony was presided over by General Secretary Zhang Jian.
Dean Chen mentioned in her speech that the long history of foreign language teaching of SEU could be dated back to the start of preparing Sanjiang Normal School in 1902. During the over-a-hundred-year teaching practice, School of Foreign Languages has provided our country with a large number of scholars, specialists and top talents who are well-known at home and abroad. The plan that establishes an education practice base at Changjianglu Primary School, one of the leading primary schools in Nanjing, will not only be a rare learning experience for students of Changjiang Primary School, but also a beneficial platform of internship and employment for students of School of Foreign Languages, which will reinforce their competitiveness in the job market. This agreement has started the connection between School of Foreign Languages, SEU and Changjianglu Primary School and the cooperation and friendship will be enhanced in the future.
Principal Song first showed her gratitude to the leaders, teachers and students of School of Foreign Languages, SEU, for their support for the foreign language teaching of Changjianglu Primary School. She spoke highly of the diligence and dedication of students from School of Foreign Languages. She put forward expectations that the Chorus, as the first students recruited in the “Fun with English” program, should learn more English skills from the teachers and students of SEU, improving their survival and communicating abilities at abroad and win honor for the school in future international competitions.
The representatives from both parties visited the music room of the Chorus’s after signing the agreement. Sixty lovely students sang a song named Where Can We Find Peace. The melodious and touching song won a big round of applauds.
At the ceremony, all the present leaders, teachers and students witnessed the unveiling of the nameplate that reads “Education Practice Base for Students of School of Foreign Languages, Southeast University”. Dean Chen and Principal Song carried out the unveiling ritual together. The ceremony rounded off with a big success.
