Yinan Zhang, student of the English department , has won the third place in the 2014 "FLTRP Cup" National English Writing Contest

On Dec.13th, 2014, the finals of the “FLTRP Cup”National English Writing Contest took place in Beijing. Miss Yinan Zhang, a senior student from the English Department of the School of Foreign Languages in Southeast University, has won both the special prize in the Jiangsu finals and the third place in the national finals.

Established in 2013, the “FLTRP Cup” National English Writing Contest was initiated by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and co-organized by the College Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Committee and the English Major Committee of the ELT Advisory Board under the Ministry of education. It is a contest with public welfare. All the undergraduate students in colleges and universities across the country can take part in this contest. Furthermore, it is also the first domestic large-scale national English writing event for college students.

The contest started in May this year. After the preliminaries of the universities and the quarter-finals of different provinces and autonomous regions, a total of 95 candidates across the country were selected to take part in the finals held in Beijing. The content of the final contest covered narrative writing, argumentative writing and expository writing. With solid basic language skills and excellent writing strategies in the finals, Miss Yinan Zhang has won the special prize and third place in the finals. Besides, on behalf of the Southeast University, she will go to Hong Kong and Macao in the summer vacation of 2015 for a short-term student exchange program.
