Shakespeare Drama Club gave its debut of foreign drama on December 26th 2014 in Wutaishan bookstore of Librairie Avant-Garde. The performance met rounds of warm applause from the audience.

The repertoire included the one-act play Old Saybrook by American famous playwright Woody Allen and a play adapted from Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing.

Old Saybrook told a story between Sheila and Norman, whose lives were disrupted by a couple of strange guests on their 7th wedding anniversary. And then everything turned into melees, which made the story more complicated than ever. Much Ado about Nothing was a comedy about the love stories of two couples. Hero, a beautiful girl who was looking forward to the promise of her love Claudio, was framed as the betrayer at the wedding ceremony, while her cousin Beatrice made an amazing decision about her relationship with Benedick, a scornful and proud young lord. Both plays attracted the audience deeply with the intricate plots, vivid characters and witty dialogues.

After the performance, the club members met the audience and answered their questions.

This was the first collaboration of Shakespeare Drama Club with Librairie Avant-Garde. The great success brought confidence to all the club members and also motivated them to perform more good works in the future.
