Southeast University conferred guest professor on Prof. Sunayama Yukio of Aichi University in the lecture hall of SFL, Jiulonghu Campus, on March 14, 2016.
The conferring ceremony was hosted by Chen Meihua, dean of SFL (School of Foreign Languages). Participants present included SEU Vice-president Prof. Zheng Jiamao, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department Mr. Mei hancheng, deputy deans of SFL Prof. Liu Kehua and Prof. Zhu Shanhua, deputy secretary and deputy dean Tang Dinghua, Prof. Liu Naihua and Prof. Jinno Keiko from Aichi University as well as teachers and students from Japanese Department.
On behalf the university, Vice-president Zheng welcomed Prof. Sunayama Yukio’s visit to SEU and awarded him the guest professor certificate. After a brief introduction to his main achievements, Prof. Zheng thanked Prof. Sunayama Yukio for his efforts of promoting exchange and cooperation between China and Japan, especially between SEU and Aichi University, and expected that further academic communication and cooperation between two schools can be promoted so as to push the development of Japanese Department to a new stage, and improve the academic level of this discipline. Prof. Sunayama Yukio expressed his gratitude to SEU in fluent Chinese and reviewed rapid development of exchange and cooperation between SEU and AichiUniversity. He appreciated the high efficiency of SEU and said that as a member of SEU, he would have more responsibility to promote further exchange and cooperation between two schools and make more contributions for the discipline development of SEU.
After the ceremony, Prof. Sunayama Yukio gave two academic lectures, respectively entitled “Educational Exchange between China and Japan in Modern Times and its Contemporary Implications” and “Postwar Japanese View of China and Japan”, which received enthusiastic responses from students and teachers from Japanese Department.
Prof. Sunayama Yukio has been the researcher and practitioner of cultural and educational exchange between China and Japan. He used to the director of Modern China Studies in Aichi University and the vice-president of Aichi University. Now he is the professor of Aichi University and project leader of “Cultivating Globalized Talents”, sponsored by Ministry of Education，Culture，Sport，Science and Technology, Japan. Aichi University is known for the academic achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences. In particular, China Study in International Research Center has gained national attention in Japan. The Chinese major in Aichi University ranks number one in Japan and is supported by Global University Project of Japanese government.
