Final of National English Contest for College Students (2018) Was Successfully Held in Southeast University

The outstanding contestants from colleges and universities in Jiangsu province gathered on Sipailou campus of Southeast University on May 20th, 2018 to compete in the final of National English Contest for College Students (NECCS). A total of 106,671 students attended the preliminary contest on April 15th and 666 of them were selected to take part in the final.

National English Contest for College Students in Jiangsu province is sponsored by the Organizing Committee of NECCS and jointly hosted by Jiangsu Collegiate Foreign Language Teaching & Research Association and the School of Foreign Languages of Southeast University. Great efforts have been made to ensure the fairness and success of this contest.

Professor Yang Zhizhong, director of National Collegiate Foreign Language Teaching & Research Association, Professor Li Xiaoxiang, director of Jiangsu Collegiate Foreign Language Teaching & Research Association, and Professor Hu Yonghui, chief secretary of Jiangsu Collegiate Foreign Language Teaching & Research Association, oversaw the proctoring and grading of the final. Before the grading of the subjective questions, Professor Yang emphasized the positive impact of NECCS on the achievements of educational reforms across the country and the enhanced English proficiency of college students. Professor Yang also expressed his appreciation of the effective mobilization and meticulous arrangements of the contest organizing committee of Jiangsu, which attracts an increasing number of students to take part in this contest. As a member on the national organizing committee, Professor Li emphasized that the strict grading principles should be observed to ensure the fairness of the contest.

Grading will be handled by both teachers and machines in the following week, after which the results will be published.
