Established in 2006, the Foreign Language Learning Centre is one of the ten basic university-level experimental centers. The center provides network-based facilities for language teaching and learning as well as the perfect academic research environment for the faculty. 

The main body the center is located on the 4th and 5th floors of Teaching Building 7 at Jiulong Lake Campus of SEU. It consists primarily of classrooms and labs equipped with network and multimedia computers, which enable, within each class, the visual and audio broadcast from the teacher to the students’ clients, e-tests, e-tutorial, and group discussion and interaction. The center also possesses a microteaching lab that allows the videotaping of class activities and the subsequent evaluation, a simultaneous interpreting training room that targets MTI (Master of Interpreting and Translation) education, a satellite TV system that can receive 4 foreign language channels, two radio stations that broadcast foreign languages programs, a recording studio, and a tutorial room.

All the multimedia computers in the center are prepared with language learning software platforms that orient different learning needs and learning levels. Specifically, the listening and speaking practice systems can give the students intensive training on these skills.

The center undertakes mainly the following tasks:

● Assisting the regular language teaching classes and activities.
● Maintaining the language learning software platforms.
● Archiving the teaching resources, such as video, audio, and printed matter.
● Videotaping teaching and academic activities and producing language radio programs.
● Administering language tests (CET, TEM, GRE, JTEST, BFT, etc.), holding language contests, and providing technical support for computer-based tests and scoring.

The Language Learning Center is open on weekdays from 8am-5pm, offering information relevant to language learning and learning platforms provided by the center. We welcome students, and guests to pay a visit to us.
