Brief Introduction

Li Lu, Professor of English and MA supervisor in the Department of Foreign Languages; male, born in 1957. From 1988 to 1990, he studied in Xi’an Jiaotong University as a postgraduate majoring in linguistics and applied linguistics. His research interests include ESP research, EST translation, machine translation & computer-aided translation, etc. In recent years, he has published over 60 research papers in such journals as Foreign Languages Teaching and Research, Chinese Translators Journal, Chinese Science & Technology Translators Journal, Chinese Education Theory and Practice, Foreign Languages and Translation, Journal of Southeast University and so on or in proceedings. He has also coauthored 15 books. Among his representative publications are: ‘A Probe into the Development of EST’, ‘Semantic Extension in Sci-Tech Translation’, ‘On EST Rhetoric’, ‘On Translating English Cataphoric Pronouns’, ‘Transferred Negation and Its Semantic & Pragmatic Translation’, ‘On the Five Hypotheses of Second Language Acquisition Theory’, ‘Advanced English’, etc. Over the past few years, he has won 2 teaching awards from the province and the university.

Gao Shengbing, male, professor, supervisor of master students, born in 1966, graduated from Nanjing University with a PhD majoring in Translation Studies. Research focuses: translation studies, comparative cultural studies, and also linguistics and applied linguistics. Published some 20 academic articles in Chinese core periodicals in foreign studies and other CSSCI periodicals, and 1 monograph, and undertook 3 ministerial and provincial projects.

Zhao Jianhong(1963-) is Professor of English. He got his doctorate in Comparative Literature in Beijing Language University in 2007. Before coming to Southeast University, he taught in several universities including Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. As visiting scholar, he pursued his research in 20th-century Western literary theory in Duke University, USA in 2001 and did short-term study in teaching methodology in University of British Columbia, Canada in 2011.His main areas of research cover Western literary theory and British and American literature.He is the coauthor of The East Represented: Postcolonial Theories(2011)and co-translator of the Chinese version of Freudianism and the Literary Mind(1987).Besides,a dozen of his essays on Frederic Jameson and Edward Said have appeared in some mainstream Chinese academic journals or several important edited collections on literature or literary theory.

LUO Tianni: born in 1963, female, associate professor, supervisor of MA candidates.

Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Nanjing University in 1984 and with a Master’s degree from Beijing Foreign Studies University in 1991.

Research area: Theory and practice of translation; Discourse analysis

Working experience: Teaching translation (between Chinese and English) since 1992; published more than ten articles in China major foreign language journals; engaged in practical translation as the English editor for the Journal of Southeast University Philosophy and Social Science from 2001 to 2010.

Dr. TANG Jun is Associate Professor of Translation Studies. She is the author of over 40 articles (in English or Chinese) and two books (in Chinese) on translation studies. Her English articles have been published by international peer-reviewed journals such as META, Perspectives, Target, and the European Journal of English Studies. She also serves as a peer reviewer for four international journals.

GUO Qing(Tony)，lecturer，MA of University College London at 2000，majored in Modern English Language. Currently English teacher of Foreign Languages School, Southeast University. Specialized in interpreting, translation, second language acquisition. Published works include The Guinness Encyclopedia of the Living World Book (Co-translator).
